Is a Gaming Laptop Overkill for School?

Every August somebody asks me if a gaming laptop is overkill for school, so I took the HyperX OMEN 15 with the Intel® Core™ Ultra 9 275HX to a real college campus and gave it 5 tests. A full school day, from the library to a game between classes to an engineering render, and after every test I called it: needed, or overkill.
